i'll be seeing ya...
here's where I'll be posting my entries now...The Light's On, But No One's Home. It's my new AOL journal...now AIM users can join in the fun! I decided to do this because it's easier for me to post pics, and easier for you, the reader, to post comments. And easier to get alerts for new entries. So that's that...

rain rain go away...and the rest of the day
Today wasn't too bad. It started off ok, especially since Alexis got up easily for me. I didn't think she would, since she went to bed so late last night. Got right out of bed too, which came as a shock. Maybe she's finally acting good...now that it's the LAST WEEK OF SCHOOL. Anyhoo, not too much happened the rest of the morning, except watching Little Guy play Gamecube. Too bad next year he won't be able to play as much...he starts school in the fall. WOOHOO!

Then around 1:30, it started getting dark outside...it was payback time from Mother Nature for the nice weekend. Joey was trying to have someone pick Lexi up from school, but no such luck. So we opted to get her out early...only because Little Guy would be scared out of his mind because of the thunder and lightning if they had to walk down to the school. Besides, it was only a 1/2 hour, and it's the last week of school. When I left the house, it was drizzling. When me and Alexis left the school (about 10 minutes later), it was coming down in sheets. Put it this way--it's about 30 feet from the school entrance to the car...we were both soaked when we got to the car. Also, about 1/2 way to the car, we saw a bolt of lightning across the sky, and the crackle of the thunder was so loud, it hurt my ears...it had to have hit about a block or two away. Good thing I picked her up--it didn't really stop raining until about 7pm.

Work was fine, except about halfway through my shift, my allergies started acting up. Imagine talking to someone on the phone when you feel a sneeze coming on...it's not pretty. Especially since I can't just say, "gotta go now...". And I don't have a "mute" key on my computer...so that was out of the question. So if I sneeze or sniffle, you're gonna hear it. I dunno...

So that's how my day went...hope yours was as good as mine.

yesterday
I was glad we kept the kids home this weekend...I had both days off, and we actually got to do things as a (dare I say it?) family. Yesterday, we went to the movies and saw Madagascar. It was ok...the kids liked it though. They thought it was too short...and it was. But I would recommend seeing it. After that, we did a little shopping at the mall, then went home. The kids played for a little while until we ordered Papa John's for dinner...mmmmmmmmm. Later, we watched Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events that I got from Blockbuster. I actually thought that movie was better than the one we saw earlier...and cheaper! Anyway, by the time that was over, it was past the kids' bedtime. And that was my Sunday. I actually enjoyed myself this weekend...between Saturday and Sunday, we had some fun! It's about damn time...

my day
Today went really good...although it started out a little too early if you ask me. The kids woke me up at around 8am, did my usual thing (coffee..lots of it), and then decided I was gonna wash the car! So, around 11, I went to the store and bought what I needed, came home and got to it. The kids rode their scooters in front of the house while I washed the car...of course, Joey came over every 5 minutes asking, "Whatcha doin Mommy?" Where are you when I need you, Captain Obvious???? Anyway, got the car clean...and the road, and the sidewalk...I think the only thing that was dirty was me. I got sunburn in the process...that was fun.

After that, Mark (Joey's brother) was having a little party for people who helped him out during his short-lived campaign. We went, and ate...and ate some more. We were there about 3 hours. The food was awesome, especially the barbecue chicken--it was grilled with sauce he had shipped from a restaurant in Memphis, TN. Not too long before we left, Mark asked Joey (little guy) to get him another beer from in the house. This is how he asked...

Mark: Joey, what color is this?
Joey: Green.
Mark: Ok, can you go and get me another one of these from upstairs?
Joey: Ok, sure.

So Joey goes upstairs, and he comes back out with the whole damn 6-pack!!! We were all cracking up laughing. That was the highlight of my day...that and the new drink I had today. It's made with orange juice, peach schnapps, and Malibu (coconut rum). It is the bomb!!! I had it before, but now that I know what's in it, I might actually go to the liquor store and get the ingredients...that stuff was good.

saturday six #60
Here's my answers to this week's Saturday Six from Patrick...

1. Who is the last performer you saw live in concert? What is the last film you saw at a theater? Which was more worth the money you paid?
The last concert was Van Halen in Hershey, PA...the last movie I saw in the theater was Finding Nemo (I know, I have no life). We just decided to go see Madagascar tomorrow. I would have to say the concert was more worth it, being that we didn't pay for the tickets...my brother-in-law did.

2. What do you do more of in a typical day: work, sleep, eat, exercise. watch TV, surf the web?
I would have to say it's a tie between working and surfing.

3. Your office brings in a new drink machine and it's your job to fill the eight selection slots. What drinks (non-alcholic, of course) do you select?
Let's see...being that I'm a huge coffee fan, two choices would have to be Starbucks Frappucino and DoubleShot. The other selections would be Pepsi, Cherry Coke, Sprite, Aquafina, Dr. Pepper, and Mountain Dew.

4. Take the quiz: What is your expression number? Do you agree with the description it gives you? What do you disagree with most?
Your Expression Number is 7
Very intelligent, you are usually thinking, introspecting, or analyzing. You have a good mind, and you are especially good at finding out the truth. Very little ever escapes your observation and deep understanding. You tend to obsess over wisdom and hidden truths. You are likely to become a authority on any subject you undertake. Operating on a different wavelength, most people don't know you that well. Very logical and rational, at times you tend to lack emotion. So much so, that you often have times coping with emotional situations. You are not very adaptable - you may tend to be overly critical at times.

I agree with most of it...the "rational" thing and lack of emotion, on the other hand, is the complete opposite of me.

5. Counting all light fixtures and lamps in your home, how many bulbs do you have in place, and how many of them are on right now?
Hmm...I think the count stands at 18 bulbs, with only one on right now--the heat lamp for the iguana. It's daytime.

6. READER'S CHOICE QUESTION #55 from Laura: What is your favorite movie line ever and why?
My mind is drawing a blank...
